The release of V2 expands the capabilities of this solution in three major ways: the introduction of Private Data Vault, the integration of facial re-verification, and the implementation of timestamped verification. In addition, this update marks the complete integration between Galxe Passport and Galxe Identity Protocol, bringing the enforced security features to all 919k Passport Holders.

What’s New in Galxe Passport V2?
1. Private Data Vault
With the introduction of Galxe Passport V2 comes the debut of Private Data Vault — a secure system for storing and managing users’ encrypted identity commitments and signed credentials. Designed for simplicity, Private Data Vault ensures users can easily access their Passport across various protocols and platforms, effectively merging convenience with top-notch security and privacy.
As Galxe Passport evolves to V2, it will begin storing new users’ encrypted data, compatible with the Galxe Identity Protocol, in the Private Data Vault. This advancement leverages Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technology, guaranteeing complete privacy of users’ personal data while maintaining accessibility. This move further solidifies Galxe Passport’s commitment to balancing privacy with ease of use.
2. Facial Re-Verification
With Galxe Passport V2, projects utilizing this solution for verification can now incorporate periodic facial re-authentication within their Know-Your-Customer (KYC) processes. This enhanced security feature aims to eradicate false KYC verifications, targeting users who might have obtained their Soulbound Token (SBT) on Galxe Passport with counterfeit documents.
To illustrate, platforms requiring KYC for compliance can enforce periodic facial verifications (e.g., every six months), verifying that the biometrics match those from the initial verification. This approach, combining consistency and precision, positions Galxe Passport V2 as a tool for authenticity, protecting projects and protocols from Sybil attacks. Additionally, minimizing false KYCs improves compliance for protocols that demand stringent verification measures.
3. Timestamped Verification
In line with the goal of minimizing falsified verifications while promoting consistency, Galxe Passport V2 introduces a feature where each user’s successful selfie verifications come with a timestamp. This detailed timestamping includes:
- Date and time of the first successful selfie verification
- Date and time of the last successful selfie verification
- The total number of successful verifications
By integrating this multi-dimensional credential, platforms are empowered with a more robust tool to assess the authenticity of their users, enhancing the integrity of the verification process.
Migration to V2
As we transition from V1 to V2, all Passport users, both new and existing, will gain unrestricted access to upgraded security and enhanced privacy features. New users will be directly onboarded to V2, and existing users will be automatically migrated, ensuring a seamless transition to the more advanced version.
